You can use Acrobat Reader to perform very fast text searches of the ODF documentation. To do so, you must obtain the Acrobat Reader with Search for CD ROMs from one of the OpenDoc Developer CDs.
First, you must install Acrobat Reader 2.1 with Search for CD ROMs. The following steps are provided to get you started with Acrobat Search quickly. For a more detailed explanation of Acrobat Search capabilities, see the two documents ReadMe-Search.pdf and Help-Search.pdf in the "Adobe Acrobat:Help" folder.
1. Before you can search, you must first select the search index(es) for the appropriate documents.
Go to the Tools menu and choose the Search item to display a list of submenu entries. From
the Search submenu choose the Indexes command and add the index or indexes that you
want to include. Index file names end with the suffix ".pdx" and are usually located in an
Index folder that appears with the corresponding ".pdf" file.
2. Once you have selected the index, you can then create a query in the Search
window with the Query command or with the Search Query button in the tool bar.
Acrobat Search supports complex queries that can include phrases, Booleans,
and wildcards. You can limit the search to specific indexed documents, and
you can select options such as word-stemming, case sensitivity, and proximity.
3. The results of your search are shown as a list of document names in the Search
Results window, ranked by relevance. You can select any document and double-click on it,
and then use the Search Next and Search Previous buttons in the tool bar to look
